Oro en polvo, 1g

Extra fine gold powder made from genuine gold leaf, produced in-house and available in a variety of shades. Please note: Each glass bottle contains 1 g of Gold Powder. Because the alloy composition varies between gold colors, the volume will also vary. The fill level may therefore differ from one shade to another, but the weight is always the same.

Shell Gold

Shell gold contains gum arabic as an aqueous binder and is ready to use. We produce shell gold from the finest gold powder in a variety of shades. Shell gold can be used like watercolor with a brush and water. Once dry, the gold surface can be polished to a glossy finish with an agate stone. Shell gold is ideal for retouching gilding, restoration, painting, and artistic work on a wide variety of surfaces. Each plastic container holds the amount equivalent to one booklet of gold leaf (25 sheets).

Illumination Gold

We produce illumination gold from genuine gold leaf made in-house. It contains a small amount of gum arabic and is available in various shades. A small amount of an aqueous binder, such as gelatin, is required when working with illumination gold. After drying, Illumination gold can be polished to a high gloss using an agate burnisher. While it has a higher gloss than shell gold, the gloss level depends on the amount of binder added. Illumination gold is particularly suitable for book and ornamental painting (e.g., tezhip), calligraphy, passe-partouts, retouching, restoration, painting, and art. Each container contains the equivalent of one gold leaf booklet (25 sheets).

From Gold Leaf to Ultra-Fine Gold Powder

Our manufacturing process allows us to produce Gold Powder with exceptionally fine, uniform gold particles. The powder is made from thinly beaten gold leaf produced at our own goldbeating factory in Germany. This gives us consistent gold colors and reliable quality from one batch to the next. Our ultra-fine Gold Powder is also used to produce our Shell Gold and Illumination Gold.

The advantages of Eytzinger Gold Powder, Shell Gold and Illumination Gold:

  • Extremely fine particles — among the finest available
  • Even application and excellent coverage
  • Easy and pleasant to work with
  • Highly economical to use
  • Consistent quality, produced in-house
  • Can be polished to a brilliant finish with an agate stone

Three Variants for Different Applications

Our fine Gold Powder is available in three product variants: Gold Powder, Shell Gold and Illumination Gold.

Gold Powder

Gold Powder is available without binder in small glass jars (1g). Larger quantities are available on request. The powder can be applied directly to an adhesive surface or mixed with a binder of your choice. It is particularly well suited to retouching, restoration, painting, fine art and Kintsugi. As a general rule, using less binder will result in greater shine and a stronger gold effect. When applying the powder directly to an adhesive surface, the adhesive should have as little tack as possible, as the powder is extremely fine.

Please note: Each glass bottle contains 1 g of Gold Powder. Because the alloy composition varies between gold colors, the volume will also vary. The fill level may therefore differ from one shade to another, but the weight is always the same.

Shell Gold

Shell Gold contains Gum Arabic as a water-based binder, along with a small amount of honey. The name comes from the traditional practice of storing this type of gold in real shells. Today, we fill our Shell Gold into small plastic containers. Each container contains the equivalent amount of gold found in a booklet of 25 sheets of gold leaf. Shell Gold is ready to use and can be applied much like watercolor, using a brush and water. Once dry, the gold surface can be polished with an agate burnisher. Shell Gold is ideal for retouching, restoration, painting and artistic work on a wide range of surfaces.

Illumination Gold

Illumination Gold is primarily used for miniature and illumination painting. Due to its production process, it contains a very small amount of Gum Arabic. Each container contains the equivalent amount of gold found in a booklet of 25 sheets of gold leaf. A small amount of water-based binder is needed to use Illumination Gold. Traditionally, gelatin is used. Simply add a drop of gelatin solution directly to the container and work it into the gold until you reach the desired texture. Once dry, the gold can be polished to a brilliant finish with an agate burnisher. Because Illumination Gold contains less binder than Shell Gold, it will generally produce a higher level of gloss. The amount of binder can also be adjusted to achieve the desired finish.

Illumination Gold is particularly well suited to book and ornament painting, including Tezhip, as well as calligraphy, passe-partouts, retouching, restoration, painting and fine art.

Available in a variety of Shades

Our three gold products are available in a variety of carefully selected gold shades, making it easy to choose the shade that best suits your project. The available shades can be found on the corresponding product pages: Powder Gold, Shell Gold, Illumination Gold.

The different shades can also be mixed together, giving you even more flexibility when working with gold.
