Illumination Gold
We produce illumination gold from genuine gold leaf made in-house. It contains a small amount of gum arabic and is available in various shades. A small amount of an aqueous binder, such as gelatin, is required when working with illumination gold.
After drying, Illumination gold can be polished to a high gloss using an agate burnisher. While it has a higher gloss than shell gold, the gloss level depends on the amount of binder added. Illumination gold is particularly suitable for book and ornamental painting (e.g., tezhip), calligraphy, passe-partouts, retouching, restoration, painting, and art.
Each container contains the equivalent of one gold leaf booklet (25 sheets).

Shell Gold
Shell gold contains gum arabic as an aqueous binder and is ready to use. We produce shell gold from the finest gold powder in a variety of shades. Shell gold can be used like watercolor with a brush and water. Once dry, the gold surface can be polished to a glossy finish with an agate stone. Shell gold is ideal for retouching gilding, restoration, painting, and artistic work on a wide variety of surfaces. Each plastic container holds the amount equivalent to one booklet of gold leaf (25 sheets).
